About

Photo Art- noun · an artistic style that seeks to capture a feeling or experience rather than to achieve accurate depiction

The old masters like Monet, Van Gogh, and Cezanne concerned themselves with feeling and emotion in their art. Even though they were absolutely capable of photo-realistically reproducing their subject, they didn’t necessarily want to. No, they wanted to show the subject like they felt it, not as it objectively appeared. And that’s why it’s so easy to tell the difference between a Monet, Van Gogh, and a Cezanne - because they made their paintings a reflection of themselves.

"Real painters do not paint things as they are. They paint them as they feel." — Van Gogh

Rigidly realistic photos sometimes leave less room for emotion, personal feeling, and story. Sometimes a photograph doesn't quite conjure what you felt when you experienced that moment.

Instead of just showing reality as a photograph would, put yourself into a story as you remember the feelings and emotions- the impression- rather than details. This makes your images and memories both more powerful and more personal.

Photo art is a beautiful and romantic compliment to your regular photography, and something few other photographers offer.

Because life is a painting, and you're in it!

What is photo art?

Photo arts are photographic images digitally re-mastered to have an impressionistic or painterly effect. They can have an oil, pastel, watercolor, or pen & ink look, and even have a "printed on canvas" appearance, even if using a non-textured paper. Photo Art can be retouched photos that have special enhancements hand applied and carefully massaged into the image to create drama or emphasize emotions, shapes and colors, strength and style. Photo artistic images based on vivid color images are eye popping and stunning, and black and white source files are moody and dramatic, with a film noir look that you won't find anywhere else. This type of imagery can speak to the viewer of feelings and mood like no standard photograph can!

Don and Kathy Beach have a knack for putting art into your photography to create a fantasy for their clients. After viewing your images the fantasy calls (and recalls) you to a special day, a feeling or event, and moment that is timeless.

Helping couples “to put themselves in the picture” is what we do best— and we seem to come by it naturally. We see the image we are capturing in the moment, and many couples are often thrilled when they view their galleries for the first time. We’re all surrounded by art, and not everyone has the ability to slow down and see it through the filter of our stressful lives. If photo artistic imagery can reflect a fantasy, its soul is your eternal love, and that’s what we want to you see and experience.
